DESERT SHELTER PHOTO CONTEST

NOVEMBER 19. 2011 - APRIL 28, 2012

The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation is hosting a photo contest of Taliesin West’s unique desert shelters. This photo contest is in celebration of the 75th Anniversary of Taliesin West and the recent publication of the book “Under Arizona Skies, The Apprentice Desert Shelters at Frank Lloyd Wright’s Taliesin West” by Bruce Brooks Pfeiffer and Victor Sidy.

Winners will be announced on May 18, 2012, and will be featured on the Foundation’s website,

www.franklloydwright.org, and the Taliesin West Facebook page.

Theme:

Send us your best photo taken while on the Desert Shelter Tour. Students of the Frank Lloyd Wright School of Architecture take visitors on an up close and personal visit to the coolest college dormitories in the United States at the Taliesin West Campus. You will see the simple 8x8 foot shepherds’ tents, and the elaborate “shelters” that have been designed and customized to each student’s personal interests and talents. Photos must be candid, un-staged shots taken while on the Desert Shelter Tour during the 2011-2012 season. Tripods will not be permitted while on tours. Please do not submit photos with people, unless you have their written permission to do so and include it with your submission. This tour requires appropriate footwear for the natural desert environment.
